SYNCOPES is a composition of Australian Composer Anthony Pateras for masked singers, piano & electronics, premiered in the middle of the pandemic in Modena, Italy. The text is from Catherine Clément’s Syncope, published 1994. The singers all hold and play rocks concurrently with vocalising. Their voices are doubled with an electronic shroud, and since they are masked it’s unclear who is singing when (and also safer).
